The biographical film "Michael", dedicated to Michael Jackson, had an impressive debut, generating 97 million dollars in the domestic market and 217 million globally in its opening weekend, setting a new record for musical films. It surpasses the previous record held by the biopic N.W.A. "Straight Outta Compton", which earned 60 million dollars. Although the film was criticized for allegedly "whitewashing" Jackson's legacy, with a score of only 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience reacted positively, with a rating of 97%. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film was considered more a testament to fandom than a deep exploration of the artist's life. Critics pointed out that the film focuses on iconic moments, leaving aside the controversies in Jackson's life. On rating platforms, the film received good scores, with a rating of 7.6 on IMDB and 3.6 on Letterboxd.
