The sculpture "Danaide", dated 1913, is part of the eponymous series by Constantin Brâncuși and is a bronze head with a brown patina and gold leaf, estimated at 100 million dollars. It represents another portrait of Margita Pogany, similar to the Mademoiselle Pogany series, but with a different design. Brâncuși began to experiment with the subject of Danaide between 1907-1909, creating an early version in stone, which is now at the National Museum of Art of Romania. The work that will be put up for sale comes from the collection of Samuel Irving Newhouse, who purchased it in 2002 for 18.2 million dollars. At that time, this was a record for the sculptor.
