Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó condemned the recent incidents against ethnic Hungarians in Romania, referring to two football matches, and underlined the need to prevent such incidents

<p>Peter Szijjártó said the violent incidents against ethnic Hungarians in Romania are unacceptable and strongly condemned them. They took place in the context of football matches where young Hungarians were assaulted and anti-Hungarian slogans were chanted. Szijjjártó spoke with his Romanian counterpart Emil Hurezeanu, who assured that the Romanian authorities are acting to punish the perpetrators. The two ministers agreed on the importance of preventing such incidents to improve bilateral relations.
