Anamaria Gavrilă, leader of the Young People's Party (POT), launched a public attack against Patriarch Daniel, reproaching him that the former candidate Călin Georgescu was not invited to the official consecration of the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation. Gavrilă believes that this omission reflects a political and spiritual marginalization of Georgescu, amplifying tensions between the Church and the civic-political environment.
In a Facebook post, she emphasized that Georgescu, being one of the most voted politicians, should have been present at an event with 2,500 official guests, including important political leaders. Gavrilă also criticized the presence of other guests, suggesting that the consecration highlighted their connections with the secret services. The service was officiated by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch Daniel, and the Cathedral, considered the largest Orthodox church in the world, was built at a cost of over 200 million euros.
