Torreense, a second division team, won the Portuguese Cup against Sporting and will compete in the Europa League

SCU Torreense won the trophy on Sunday, after defeating the cup holder, Sporting CP, at Estádio Nacional, with a score of 2-1 after extra time. This is the second time since 2018 that the Portuguese Cup is won by a team from the second division.

In 2018, Desportivo das Aves defeated Sporting Lisbon, 2-1, but did not compete in continental cups because they had not obtained the European license.
