Real Madrid qualified for the final of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1. Federico Valverde opened the scoring for Real in the semifinal against Atletico. The Uruguayan midfielder scored just in the second minute of the match, from a perfectly executed free kick. Valverde also provided the assist for the 2-0 goal, scored by Rodrygo in the 55th minute. Alexander Sorloth reduced the deficit for Simeone's team.
