The Romanian tennis player Sorana Cîrstea was defeated by the Polish Iga Swiatek, the world number two, with 6-3, 6-2, on Thursday, in the round of 16 of the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul (South Korea).

Swiatek will play in the quarter-finals against the winner between the Czech Barbora Krejcikova and the British of Romanian descent Emma Răducanu.
