The Romanian tennis player Sorana Cîrstea has managed to advance to the third round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, after a convincing victory against the Australian Kimberly Birrell, with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
This is the sixth time that Cîrstea reaches this stage of the competition, marking her best performance at the All England Club. In the next round, the Romanian will face Linda Noskova, who defeated the Colombian Maria Camila Osorio with 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Cîrstea, at 36 years old and ranked 18th in the WTA, has a favorable head-to-head record of 3-2 against Noskova, the young 21-year-old player ranked 12th in the WTA.
Additionally, other notable results from the second round include the victory of the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the world number two, who defeated Caty McNally with 6-1, 6-2.
