The NHL (National Hockey League) team San Jose Sharks was forced to apologize after an offensive message was displayed on the scoreboard during the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, dedicated to Hispanic Heritage Night. The message, which read "SJ SHARKS FANS LOVE ICE !! GET 'EM BOYZ !", was met with boos from the fans. This was the ninth edition of the celebration "Los Tiburones Night", meant to honor the Hispanic community in the Bay Area. Fans expressed outrage, calling for a more careful review of displayed messages. After the game, the Sharks issued a statement of regret, explaining that the message was sent externally and was not detected during the standard review process. Apologies were repeated on the arena screen, while the team lost the game 3-0. The incident occurred against the backdrop of the Trump administration's strict immigration policies, which increased funding for ICE.
