The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has decided that Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be able to participate in the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, not even as neutral athletes. This decision comes after consultations with international federations, in the context of the exclusion of the two countries from paralympic competitions, as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Although Russia and Belarus have regained their membership rights in the IPC, each international federation is responsible for establishing qualification criteria.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation has decided not to allow athletes from these countries to participate in qualifying events, and the International Biathlon Federation has maintained their suspension. In conclusion, neither Russia nor Belarus can qualify for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, which will take place between March 6 and 15.
