The U17 national team of Romania, coached by Mircea Diaconescu, will participate for the first time in a world final tournament, at the U17 World Cup in Qatar, which will take place between November 19 and December 13. Romania has been placed in Group K, where it will face Mexico, Cameroon, and Venezuela, opponents that offer chances of qualifying for the knockout stages. Romania's qualification was achieved after an impressive run in the qualifiers, with decisive victories against Iceland (5-2) and Portugal (1-0), a match considered the key moment of the campaign. Although Romania lost the last match against Italy (1-2), the previous results were enough to secure a spot in the competition. With 48 participating teams, Romania joins other debutants who impressed in the qualifiers.
