Petrolul Ploiești started the play-out with two defeats, 0-2 against Farul and 0-1 against Metaloglobus, which led to the departure of coach Eugen Neagoe. Following these results, the club decided to bring back Mehmet Topal, an experienced coach who has previously led the team in two prior terms.
Topal, at the age of 40, signed a contract until the end of the season and will debut on the technical bench in the friendly match against FC Voluntari. Petrolul is currently in 14th place, a position that leads to a playoff, and the next official match will be on Monday, April 6, against Csikszereda.
