The Norwegian accumulated 10.5 points out of 13 possible, thus securing his 19th world title, with one point ahead of the Russian Vladislav Artemiev. After winning the title, Carlsen stated to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK that he does not feel overwhelmed with emotion, but rather satisfied with his achievement. Although he had a frustrating day in which he drew with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and lost to Artemiev, Carlsen managed to bounce back and win the title, expressing his joy at having turned the situation around.
