Japan's selection celebrated the 1,000th match in World Cup history with an impressive victory, defeating Tunisia 4-0 in Monterrey. The goals were scored by Kamada (4th minute), Ueda (31 and 83), and Ito (69).

The match marked Tunisia's elimination from the competition. The game was officiated by the Romanian Istvan Kovacs, who wore a special shirt for the occasion.

Following this victory, Japan has 4 points in Group F, the same as the Netherlands, followed by Sweden with 3 points, while Tunisia is eliminated with no points. In the last round, Japan needs a draw with Sweden to qualify further.
