Young Italian cyclist Samuele Privitera, 19, died in a crash during the first stage of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta.

Samuele Privitera was involved in a fall on a downhill stretch, losing his helmet and colliding with a guardrail. First aid measures were taken but the injuries were fatal. The Hagens Berman Jayco team has confirmed the death and the authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
