Surprise at the Miami Open! Iga Swiatek was eliminated in the second round by Magda Linette

Iga Swiatek was eliminated from the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami by her compatriot Magda Linette, who won 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

This represents Swiatek's first defeat in her debut at a tournament since the 2021 edition of the WTA Finals. Swiatek, the champion at the Miami Open in 2022 and holder of six Grand Slam titles, is looking to win her first tournament since her victory in September in Seoul.

In the third round, Linette (50 WTA) will face the Filipino Alexandra Eala (29 WTA), who defeated the German Laura Siegemund.
