In the trial regarding the death of Diego Maradona, Dr. Mario Schiter, the doctor who treated the legendary footballer, stated that his condition could have significantly improved within 48 hours if a diuretic had been administered. Maradona suffered from excess fluid in the body, and Schiter emphasized that patients with congestive heart failure benefit from diuretic treatments that quickly improve their condition.

Additionally, other doctors who participated in the autopsy confirmed the accumulation of fluid in Maradona's body, suggesting that this should have been observed by the medical staff. Maradona died on November 25, 2020, due to pulmonary edema and a cardiorespiratory arrest, following a home postoperative recovery. The trial began on April 14, and seven medical professionals are accused of manslaughter, denying any responsibility and citing natural causes for his death.
