The sale of t-shirts featuring the original poster of the 1936 Berlin Olympics has generated unease in Germany, and there are discussions about halting this initiative. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has defended the initiative, stating that the t-shirts are part of a heritage collection that includes designs from all editions of the Olympic Games. The 1936 Games were used by the Nazi regime to promote racial supremacy, and Klara Schedlich, spokesperson for the Green Party, criticized the IOC for choosing a problematic image without historical context. The IOC acknowledged the issues related to Nazi propaganda but also highlighted the achievements of athletes, such as Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals, challenging the myth of racial supremacy. The IOC mentioned that the Olympic Museum in Lausanne provides the historical context of these Games and that the t-shirts are available in a limited number.
