Carlos Alcaraz, former world number one, has confirmed his withdrawal from the Madrid Masters due to persistent medical issues with his right wrist. The announcement came after Novak Djokovic stated that he would not participate in the tournament in the Spanish capital. Alcaraz suffered an injury during the opening match in Barcelona, where he requested medical intervention due to pain. Although there were hopes that he would return in Madrid, his health condition turned out to be more serious than anticipated. He mentioned on platform X that he needs to listen to his body and that he is going home to recover. This withdrawal comes after he lost the final in Monte Carlo, which led to the loss of the top spot in the ATP rankings. Currently, it is unknown how long his recovery will take.
