The world athletics forum has decided to maintain the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes, despite the change in position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in July, which authorized the lifting of the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee.

The Russian Athletics Federation stated that these restrictions violate rights and affect the ability to represent Russian athletes internationally. Boris Yaryshevskiy, the general director of the federation, emphasized that the sanctions are unprecedented and hinder the development of athletics in Russia, especially for young athletes.

The federation intends to challenge these restrictions in sports courts and is preparing new actions to lift the sanctions. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has also been notified following the reaffirmation of World Athletics' decision to maintain Russia's exclusion from international competitions.
