The comet, named 3I/Atlas, was discovered on July 1 and is traveling at a speed of 59 km/s, now more than 670 million kilometers from the Sun. It will reach its closest point to the Sun at the end of October, passing within a safe distance of 240 million kilometers from Earth. Astronomers are monitoring the comet, estimating it to be larger than other known interstellar objects. Observations have revealed a spectacular tail and gas halo, and the comet will be visible through a telescope by September.
