The European Commission has announced that 76 companies from 16 member states have submitted bids to develop artificial intelligence gigafactories, a positive response to the EU's drive to close the technology gap with the US and China. The project aims to build four factories, with a budget of €20bn, each with the capacity to use around 100,000 AI chips. Romania has proposed the Black Sea AI Giga Factory project, which includes the installation of 100,000 AI accelerators in Cernavodă and Doicești, benefiting from sustainable energy sources and advanced digital infrastructure.
