The team at the University Hospital of Foggia has discovered that broken heart syndrome, also known as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, has a scientific basis in different areas of the brain. The condition suddenly affects the heart muscle, usually following severe emotional or physical stress. Researchers hope their study will lead to new ways of treating the condition.
