The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has signed a decree appointing 17 judges to their positions until the age limit is reached.
The document was signed on April 30 and published in the Official Monitor on May 7. The appointments concern magistrates who will work in the courts of Chișinău, Bălți, Cahul, Drochia, Soroca, Orhei, Hâncești, Ungheni, and Edineț. This decision is based on constitutional provisions and the Law on the Status of Judges, which regulates the procedure for confirmation in office.
It is important to mention that some of the judges included in the decree were previously rejected by the head of state but were proposed again by the Superior Council of Magistracy. The judges are part of the group of candidates who passed the competition for filling the vacant positions in the courts, a competition that will be completed in 2025.
