Ion Perju, a former policeman sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of Valeriu Boboc during the protests on April 7, 2009, has been apprehended by the authorities. He was wanted internationally and is believed to have been hiding in the left bank region of the Dniester for 10 years. In 2015, the Chișinău Court of Appeal also sentenced the former Minister of Internal Affairs, Gheorghe Papuc, but both left the courtroom before the verdict was announced.
