The interim Minister of Defense met with NATO representatives to request temporary support in counter-drone defense, following the incident with the Russian drone in Galați.

The Minister of Defense had a meeting on Tuesday at NATO headquarters in Belgium with representatives of the 32 member states, in the context of the recent incident in Galați.

Romania is requesting a temporary transfer of anti-drone capabilities until the delivery of the equipment ordered in February, valued at approximately 3 billion euros. During the meeting, the minister presented the challenges Romania is facing, including illegal intrusions of Russian drones into NATO airspace.

He also emphasized the measures taken to improve anti-drone defense and justified the request for allied support. NATO military representatives are expected to propose to political decision-makers the approval of this temporary support, pending the future delivery of equipment. Romania continues to collaborate with allies to identify effective solutions for the defense of the Eastern Flank.
