The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, announced on Wednesday evening that she agreed with the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, during their bilateral meeting in Washington, that the American military presence in Romania should continue.

"The security and defense component is strongly linked to the common stakes we have in the area of energy investments and the economic component, which, obviously, is becoming stronger, may have greater potential in the future, as long as the region is simpler. And from this perspective, the presence of U.S. troops in the allied format on Romanian territory is an important factor, especially as a deterrent element, and we discussed this aspect," Oana Ţoiu specified.
