President Nicușor Dan stated in an interview on Europa FM that the report regarding the annulment of the presidential elections will contain information that can be presented to the public in a proportion of 90% during this year. He emphasized that Romania has been facing 'hybrid warfare' actions from the Russian Federation for at least a decade, and candidate Călin Georgescu would have benefited from the support of an infrastructure associated with Moscow.
The president mentioned that there is clear evidence of Russia's involvement in Georgescu's campaign, including a report from the General Prosecutor's Office. The final report will gather information from various sources and will exceed the scope of the previous one. Nicușor Dan compared the situation in Romania to external interference in other Western states, highlighting the unusually intense influence of Russia in the country. The report will be published this year, without a specific date set.
"We also had face-to-face discussions with representatives, we had very interesting discussions with people from civil society, where, because it is a very sophisticated area, combining very new technological methods, combining artificial intelligence, combining social psychology, we found in the civil society area people with exceptional skills in the area and they help us with this as well. 90% of the things I know about the elections are things that can be made public and that we will make public in a systematic way.
The report that we will release will bring together many things, more than the report made by Mr. Florența, but if you want an answer to the question of whether or not Russia was involved in Georgescu's campaign, this answer has already been provided by Florența's report," said President Nicușor Dan on Europa FM.
