President Nicușor Dan declared on Thursday, at Europa FM, that at this moment, within the governing coalition, there is a conflict between PSD and PNL, and he is trying to maintain his role as a mediator. The president explained that, beyond the political disputes, the real problem is the fragmentation of society and the lack of cooperation between the parties that should support Romania's European direction.

Asked if he sees PSD as primarily responsible for the tensions within the coalition, Nicușor Dan said that the problem lies with both sides. The president acknowledged that despite the public pressure existing at this time in the public space, choosing a side is not the solution.

"The easiest thing would be to be on one side or the other, because in this collective emotion, if you support Bolojan, the others will blame you for their standard of living decreasing because of you. If you don't support Bolojan, it means you oppose the reform. Either way, in my position, if I don't choose a side, it's bad," the president stated.
