The Mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2025 presidential elections, in a statement at the headquarters of the Bucharest City Hall.

"I will run as an independent candidate. I am open to discussions with pro-European parties to support this candidacy. We need a president who will ensure that the pro-reform direction that the parties announce is followed in their work," said Nicușor Dan.
