President Nicușor Dan stated that it is essential for Romania to prove the existence of Russian interference in last year's presidential elections, in order to restore citizens' trust in the state. He mentioned that the cancellation of the elections in the fall of 2024 has generated suspicions among Romanians, who believe that a ruling elite has acted illegally to maintain its power. Dan emphasized that, externally, Romania has managed to explain Russian influence, but it is important to conclude this chapter with a comprehensive report. He also mentioned that Romania is facing cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns, part of a hybrid warfare strategy from Russia. The president promised that, in the next two to three months, a report will be prepared to convince citizens of the reality of these threats.
