Dmitri Medvedev states that "Armenia will never join the EU", after the Armenian Prime Minister conveyed that he also wishes to accelerate the process of European integration.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, currently the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, stated that Armenia will never join the European Union, mentioning that this will permanently affect the country's relations with Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Medvedev emphasized that the price Armenia will have to pay for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's ambitions is significant. His statements come in the context in which Pashinyan announced the intention to accelerate the process of joining the EU, in response to pressure from the EAEU.

The Armenian Prime Minister explained that an official application for membership is necessary and that a referendum should be organized to establish the timeline for the necessary reforms. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned about the legislative difficulties and contradictions that could arise between European standards and those of the EAEU, emphasizing that these issues could harm Armenia.
