The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced the intention to increase rents for the over 4,000 housing units managed by the Real Estate Fund Administration (AFI), considering that the rates have not been updated for almost 30 years. During the show "In your face" on Digi24, Ciucu explained that the new changes could bring approximately 500 million lei to the Capital's budget if approved by the General Council. He emphasized that currently, rents are very low, for example, 115 lei for a one-room apartment, and after the update, the price could reach 980 lei in the central area. The mayor mentioned that AFI collected only 50 million lei from rents last year, and the updates could significantly transform this amount. Ciucu stated that he will promote this project, even if it is not popular, emphasizing the importance of capitalizing on the city's assets.
