Ciprian Șerban, the former Minister of Transport, stated that signing the order for increasing the fares for traveling by subway was a "bad luck" at the end of his term. Asked about the reasons for this decision, he explained that it was an assumption of the Board of Directors of Metrorex and the ministry.

Starting from May 1, the fare for a subway ride will increase from 5 lei to 7 lei, and the increase was requested by the Board of Directors of Metrorex. Ciprian Șerban mentioned that he tried to discuss various options to avoid this increase, but it was not possible to reverse the decision. He also announced that the ministry has sent the Control Body to Metrorex to check certain expenses that they consider unjustified, and the results will be presented later.
