AMR President Emil Boc proposed to the Prime Minister that the number of local police officers should be set at one police officer per 1,200 inhabitants, instead of 1,000, given the complexity of the problems in large municipalities. Following consultations with the government, Boc said austerity measures and the allocation of financial resources on the basis of the census were discussed. PM Ilie Bolojan emphasized that reducing the number of local police officers is a priority, given that there is no direct correlation between their number and public order problems.
