At a time of crisis, TAROM shareholders, including the Ministry of Transport, have approved a doubling of the compensation for board members, despite losses of tens of millions in recent years. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan criticized the decision, pointing out that the appointments to the Boards of Directors were used to increase personal incomes instead of making the company more efficient. Transport Minister Ciprian Șerban has promised to reduce allowances and implement a restructuring plan for TAROM.
