President Nicușor Dan has promulgated a law prohibiting MPs residing in Bucharest or Ilfov from receiving lump sums for rent. The measure also applies to those who own their own homes, including those of their spouses. The amendment was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate on June 30, targeting 21 MPs who were already receiving rent money despite owning property in the capital. The law stipulates that the housing sums are only given to MPs without housing in these areas.
