Răzvan Alexandru Predica, Chief Commercial Officer Affidea and Cluster CEO: Romania, Greece, Hungary

Every March, when we celebrate Women, we have a natural opportunity to reflect on one of the most important aspects of health: the importance of regular medical prevention for women. Beyond the symbolic dimension of this period, the theme remains essential throughout the year, in a context where the burden of preventable diseases continues to be significant.

Recent data shows that approximately 360,000 women are diagnosed annually with breast cancer in the European Union, remaining the most common form of cancer among the female population. Cervical cancer continues to generate thousands of new cases each year, despite being one of the oncological conditions with the highest potential for prevention through regular screening and vaccination. In parallel, cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of mortality, including among women.

These realities highlight a clear truth: the difference between a diagnosis at an advanced stage and an early one is often determined by the performance of precise investigations and the consistency of preventive checks.

Screening is not just a medical recommendation, but a strategic public health tool.

Early detection significantly increases therapeutic options, reduces the complexity of interventions, and improves long-term prognosis. In a context where participation in screening programs remains below the optimal level in many health systems, the role of healthcare providers becomes essential in raising awareness and facilitating a coherent medical pathway.

The role of Affidea clinics and hospitals in women's health

In Affidea clinics and hospitals, our goal is to provide patients with an integrated medical ecosystem, built around prevention, early diagnosis, and personalized treatment.

This goal begins with the expertise of top doctors from multiple relevant specialties in women's health — from imaging and gynecology to oncology, cardiology, or medical rehabilitation. Solid clinical experience, complemented by interdisciplinary collaboration, allows for a comprehensive and coherent assessment of each case, ensuring that medical decisions are based on a clear overall picture.

Imaging investigations are performed with state-of-the-art equipment, supported by advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence-assisted solutions, which contribute to increasing diagnostic accuracy and identifying changes at early stages. Technology thus becomes an ally of the doctor and the patient, supporting rapid and precise intervention.

Laboratory analyses complement this integrated approach, providing essential data for risk assessment and monitoring progress. Their interpretation is carried out in a clinical context, adapted to the particularities of each patient, to support a personalized medical plan.

When the situation requires it, the infrastructure of the clinics includes a modern operating block and accommodation facilities to European standards, ensuring optimal conditions for planned surgical interventions and post-operative recovery. Subsequently, medical rehabilitation is personalized based on the needs of each case, facilitating a return to daily activities in optimal conditions.

An essential element of this medical experience is the role of the patient navigator. In a pathway that can become complex and sometimes difficult to manage, patients benefit from constant support and coordination throughout the medical process — from scheduling and investigations to explaining results and monitoring progress. Continuity and clarity of communication are an integral part of the quality of medical care.

Prevention is a permanent priority, not seasonal

Responsibility for women's health is not a seasonal one. Prevention means taking responsibility, clarity, and the ability to intervene in a timely manner. It means transforming uncertainty into information and risk into an informed decision. Knowing one's health status means having control over one's own journey, both personally and professionally. In a dynamic society, where women play an essential role in family, community, and the economic environment, health remains the foundation upon which all other plans are built.

Medical prevention is one of the most responsible decisions we can make.
