Launch of the National Youth Barometer - Representative survey at the national level for the population of Romania aged 18-35
Thursday, March 12, at 6 PM, Metropolis Theater
According to the study "National Youth Barometer", 6 out of 10 young people aged between 18 and 35 support change and new ideas, while one third declare that they prefer things as they are and traditions.
This is just one of the data extracted from the first sociological research conducted by INSCOP Research among young people during the period October 20 – November 5, 2025, at the request of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament.
The complete presentation of the sociological study data which offers a detailed perspective on the concerns of Romanian youth will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Metropolis Theater, Mihai Eminescu Street 89, Bucharest, starting at 6:00 PM.
Remus Stefureac, director of INSCOP Research: "Young people express a majority orientation towards change, which indicates a high potential for acceptance of political or social projects that promise reform and modernization. However, this openness is not evenly distributed: it is much stronger in urban environments, among those with higher education and individuals with greater economic security, suggesting that direct experience of social opportunities increases the appetite for novelty. In contrast, the more traditional orientation is concentrated in rural areas, among young people with limited resources and lower education, where change is perceived more as a risk than as an opportunity. Essentially, the divide is not purely cultural, but mainly reflects structural differences in economic, educational capital and exposure to modernity."

Tradition vs. Change
60.6% of respondents support change and new ideas, while 36.7% prefer things as they are and traditions. 2.7% do not know or do not respond.
Support for change and new ideas is in higher proportions than the population average: women, individuals with higher education, residents of Bucharest and large urban areas, those with high income.
Preference for things as they are and traditions is in higher proportions than the population average: individuals with primary education, residents of rural areas, those with low income.
The INSCOP Research study explores the opinions of young people regarding the main social, economic, and political themes that influence their lives:
· the priorities of young people in relation to the European political agenda;
· the political orientation of young people in Romania;
· young people's access to the labor market and the phenomenon of emigration;
· the difficulties faced by students;
· access to housing;
· mental health and access to therapy services;
· reproductive health;
Methodology: The survey was conducted by INSCOP Research at the request of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament. Data were collected during the period October 20 - November 5, 2025. Research method: interview via questionnaire. Data were collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple, stratified sample volume of 1,100 people. The sample is representative for significant socio-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged between 18 and 35. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 2.95%, at a confidence level of 95%.
