Prosecutors from the Criminal Investigation and Criminal Procedure Prosecutor's Office (PÎCCJ) carried out almost 100 searches in Suceava on Thursday, targeting public officials who issued non-conforming Romanian identity documents to more than 1700 citizens of the former USSR. The inquiry is investigating offenses such as bribery and computer forgery related to obtaining identity documents by fraudulent methods, including the use of fictitious addresses and false statements. This network made it possible to illegally obtain Romanian identity documents for beneficiaries who did not live at the given addresses.
