In 2024, Romania has moved up to 45th place in the Social Progress Index, but is below the EU average, with declines in basic needs and well-being.

<p>While moving up in opportunities (45th place), the country fell in basic needs (49th place) and well-being (61st place). The best results were in personal freedom, nutrition and health care, but Romania faces challenges in health, education and water. The report highlights the need for strategic investments in education, health and environment to improve quality of life.
