The provisional agreement between the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Parliament aims to amend the statute and financing of European political parties, with a view to increasing transparency and preventing external manipulation. The regulation imposes strict transparency requirements, bans campaign funding for national referendums and sets out measures for gender balance. It also limits the risks of foreign interference through restrictions on external contributions and requires a declaration of respect for EU values. The draft is to be reviewed before formal adoption.
