A 43-year-old inmate from Margineni Penitentiary is being investigated for inciting other inmates to smuggle drugs in the hope of a reduced sentence.

The man, imprisoned for drug-related offenses, devised a plan to smuggle psychoactive substances into the penitentiary, promising €10,000 to other inmates to bring them in. Following checks, a psychoactive substance was discovered in the mail. Although he instigated other convicts, they did not act on his plan. He was apprehended by D.I.I.C.O.T. prosecutors and remanded in custody.
