Former Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius will be released on parole after serving half of a 13-year and five-month sentence for the murder of his girlfriend.

Pistorius, known as the "Blade Runner" for his prosthetic legs, was originally sentenced to five years in prison for manslaughter, but the sentence was increased to 13 years and five months after an appeal. He will be subject to strict conditions, including continuous supervision and participation in gender-based violence programs.
