The government has announced the allocation of over 1.2 billion lei for the modernization of public passenger transport and the purchase of 23 new electric locomotives.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said that 23 new electric locomotives will be purchased, capable of running at 160 km/h and hauling up to 16 passenger coaches. Investments will also be made in 9 other long-distance interregional electric trains.
