The draft legislation submitted to the Senate aims to amend Emergency Ordinance 81/2021 and introduces strict measures to prevent brown bear attacks. These include a ban on feeding and approaching bears within 50 meters, with fines ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 lei. A National Register of Wildlife Interactions will be set up and local authorities will have to put up information boards. The environment ministry will conduct education campaigns to inform the population about wildlife behavior. The bill is to be debated in parliament.
