The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) provided clarifications following the report of the U.S. Department of State, which highlighted issues in the Romanian justice system, including the statute of limitations and inconsistent practices. CSM explained that unclear legislation has generated difficulties, but that improvements now exist. Additionally, CSM mentioned that the perception of corruption has decreased, and Romania has had a high rate of applications to the European Court of Human Rights, but the majority of requests have been rejected. CSM reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the independence and quality of the judicial system.
