The National Health Insurance House has asked all hospitals in the country to submit data on the bed occupancy rate for each ward, after a significant variation in occupancy was found. The measures are part of a plan to streamline spending, given estimates that by 2025, spending on medical staff will exceed treatment costs. The health minister stressed that hospitals will not be closed, but the number of hospitalized beds will continue to be reduced by 20%, taking into account the addressability of wards.
