Dorin Junghietu, the Minister of Energy, stated that the Republic of Moldova will not face a gas crisis this year, due to imports from Romania and the completion of works for a new electrical line. This will connect the country to the European energy market, thus increasing energy independence. Junghietu emphasized the importance of diversifying gas sources and liberalizing the market, mentioning that, starting from January 1, 2025, Russian gas will no longer reach the Transnistrian region. Authorities have already purchased 90% of the gas needed for the 2025-2026 season, with safety stocks of 47 million cubic meters.
