The National Anti-Corruption Center is conducting a large-scale operation of searches in a criminal case targeting the illegal financing of political parties, money laundering, and electoral corruption. The investigations focus on a political formation suspected of using funds from the Russian Federation, transferred through cryptocurrencies. So far, cash deliveries of approximately 9 million lei have been identified, and the searches have led to the confiscation of over 800,000 lei and other relevant evidence. One person has been detained for 72 hours.
